This is some fantastic photography and video. Jason Strong is a architectural photographer based out of Stockholm, Sweden. He has been taking photographs for 10 plus years. Having gone to school for interior architecture, Jason has a special eye for the meaning and purpose of not just the structure he his photographing, but the furniture, wall hangings, color palate and even details such as light switches. His clean and precise style is reflected in every shot. He does not let his style interfere with the project he is shooting but clearly and cleanly lets the subjects speak for themselves. His newest project is done in a fashion I have never seen before. He decided to shoot a personal residence not just in still photography, nor even simply in motion, but with flight. He teamed up with some other film makers and scouted, directed and edited this amazing piece of architectural footage. Even in this very amazing style the heart of the building is what comes through, not some fancy style of shooting.

I think this is really a principle that we can all carry into our own lives. Let the person you are with, the project you are working and the God you serve be the thing that shines through. We taint so many wonderful things in this world by trying too hard to put our own stamp on them. Just a thought inspired by these great projects. Do yourself a favor and check out the rest of his portfolio here.

Blessings, NTHN

So much emptiness surrounds each of these exquisite, illustration styled paintings. George Boorujy has created a world where his subjects stand on their own, as if transported to a perfect, uninhabited space. However there is a clear sense of place even in these displaced creatures and landmarks. The isolation serves to bring the paintings to life. It causes me to imagine what the creatures are reacting too and what the landscapes are surrounded by. I think his focus on the American west is a strong draw for me as well. These works are some of my favorite though all of his work is suburb in subject and detail. There is a sense of tension even in the most serene images he paints.

I think we all need a little more negative space in our busy, every-moment-planned-and-packed lives. Slowing down, turning off, breathing for a bit, causes us to embrace the reality right in front of us. I have felt the need to try to find moments of solitude and quiet as my life seems to constantly accelerate. These works remind me to do just that, knowing that this does not remove the tension of life but helps me focus on what really is important. Check his stuff here.

This is a project that involved a digital print (19x32in) and a sculpture made of wood, steel, and gold paint (12 in tall).

This project was commissioned by the band Greycoats from the Twin Cities. They had 12 different mid-western artist each pick a song off their album “World of Tomorrow” and create their own interpretation of it. The pieces were revealed during the release party and then put on display at Forage Modern Workshop and Grain Belt Botteling in the Twin Cities.

The song I chose is entitled “Keep Us Young”. You can listen to it in this previous post “I Have Seen the Future”

It was quite fun creating some things that ended up in the physical rather than digital world. I collected some splinters, cuts, burns and sweat working on this one. It has really inspired me to do more sculpture and printed work. Keep a look out.

Some exciting stuff! Saturday I will be taking part of a pretty cool event. Greycoats will be having a CD release show and have invited 12 artists, myself included to do a piece of art for each song on the album. The song I am doing is “Keep Us Young”

After the show tomorrow night all the art pieces will be moved to a number of different galleries for your viewing pleasure. Here is some more info on it.

I am so thankful to be a part of this show. I have been working on a piece I am pretty pumped to show. The other artists are fantastic.

I will show some picture and process after the show. My secret is, I have never had a gallery show before, I’m not really an artist. Hope no one finds out!

This is a video that I started working on almost two years ago. I completed it about one year ago and have been waiting to reveal it until today. It is a promo for the amazing band Greycoats. I wanted to capture the idea of coming to the end of yourself, in a place you aren’t quite acquainted with.

It was modeled and rendered in C4D. It was composited in and edited in Final Cut and Apple Motion. The live elements are DSLR shots of the band members. This is the second music video I have created. It is a fun, scary, long and demanding process yet it is so rewarding to see and hear the final results. I hope you enjoy it. Please support Greycoats by purchasing the album here.

Blessings,
